Are Tiny Houses Warm in Winter? Insulation and Comfort Guide
With the right insulation and glazing, a tiny house can be as warm as an apartment in winter. From walls and roof to heating and moisture control, here is how comfort is built in.
One of the first questions people ask about small homes is: will it stay warm in winter? When it is built properly, yes. A small volume combined with good insulation is easy to heat.
The secret: continuous insulation
In Eksado models the walls, roof and floor are insulated with 8 cm mineral wool at a density of 50. Mineral wool provides both thermal and acoustic insulation and does not burn.
A wind and moisture barrier outside the insulation keeps rain, wind and humidity away from the structure. The floor uses 45 mm sandwich panels, so cold is stopped from below too.
Windows and doors
A large share of heat loss happens through windows and doors. Insulated PVC frames keep the warmth inside, and window placement is planned to make the most of daylight.
Heating options
- Air conditioner (heat pump): Fast, efficient heating for a small volume.
- Underfloor heating: An optional upgrade for even warmth across the floor.
- Electric fireplace: Warmth and atmosphere in one.
- Solar power system: Panels, inverter and batteries cover part of your energy needs.
Moisture and ventilation
In winter the main thing to watch is condensation. A moisture barrier and regular ventilation keep the interior dry and healthy.
Cool in summer, too
The same insulation keeps summer heat outside. Light-coloured cladding options add to summer comfort.
Conclusion
